Meijer is seeking a Solution Architect for our Corporate Systems agile train. The Solution Architect is a senior level technical and functional expert, partnering with business and IT stakeholders at all levels to identify architectural solution options. This Solution Architect position is responsible for using solution architecture practices and techniques to deliver measurable business outcomes in a large-scale, complex organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interfacing with the Product Owner and IT partners at the Program level to define and estimate features for agile teams.
  • Determines major elements and subsystems and defines interfaces as well as architectural runway.
  • Defines functional and non-functional requirements including performance monitoring, alerting and code management and ensuring alignment with technology best practices and SLAs.
  • This job profile is not meant to be all inclusive of the responsibilities of this position; may perform other duties as assigned or required.
  • Assists in production support and maintenance of applications as needed.
  • Evaluates architectural options and defines overall architecture of the HR and Payroll systems.
  • Mentoring and coaching other members of the team.
  • Conducts industry research, facilitates new product and vendor evaluations, and assists in vendor selection.
  • Drives engagement with ITS Security and Infrastructure teams to ensure secure development and deployment of solutions.
  • Providing subject matter expertise and technical consulting support on either vendor or internal applications and interfaces.
  • Designs, codes, tests, and implements, dashboarding and analytical assets; develops system documentation according to SAFe Agile principles and industry standards.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s and 5 years post degree of ITS experience is required. (or equivalent combination)
  • Any SAFe certification or training.
  • Expect 10+ years of software design, development and implementation of home grown or package solutions (ERPs/SaaS).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
  • Experience with structured design, development and implementation of new and established computing architectures.
  • Ability to understand the long-term (“big picture”) and short-term perspectives of situations.
  • Technical team leadership experience.
  • Experience leading and managing large enterprise initiatives.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
